NA SSB Sprint contest recap by N4MQU

The North America Single Sideband Sprint contest was Saturday October 31.
This contest is fun and fast pace. The rules say you have to make a contact and move off frequency to make another contact before moving back to the same frequency.
For complete rules see https://ssbsprint.com/rules/

Thanks to the members participating N4AED Richard KJ4QNX Colleen Futrell, AJ4NX Adrian Peele, KO4GQM Chris Lougee, and N4MQU Mark Gibson.
N4AED Richard and KJ4QNX Colleen Futrell hosted this event at their home and JARSCOM was utilized.
We learned we need to have a backup plan. I used my 40 meter dipole for the antenna after the tarheel antenna motor failed. Richard and Adrian did a great job in launching the antenna with the fishing line and a sling shot. I also used my personal Icom 7100 because the touch screen of the JARSCOM was working intermittently. Richard used his personal radio because the radios in the vehicle is not a permanent part of the vehicle.
We started to immediately make contacts. I received a QSL from NK4O from Miami, FL with this note“Good evening,
After 43 years of being a ham, I found my microphone, as this was my first SSB sprint contest. Thanks for making it fun!
73 de A.J.QSL from NK4O”
